I just installed a Modbo 2.1 in my v12 ps2. It came with a laser fix which I also installed also. When I go to turn it on the green light comes on for a couple of seconds then turns red. I have looked my wiring over several times and have not found anything missed wired or touching. I had a friend look it over too and he can't find anything wrong also. Has anyone had this problem and did I just fry my ps2?

check all the connections & make sure that you do not have solder bridging across any of the connections (especially the bios connections). also make sure that the chip is not touching the metal plate & shorting out. check all the fuses you can find a piccy of them here - http://www.psrtech.co.uk/fuses.htm

i dont know if your ps2 is fried, if everything seems ok & still doesnt work then remove the chip & see if it works then

I am assuming ps14 is fine because that is where the mod chip gets it power from. When I turn the power on, I get voltage to the chip from that. But as soon as power is applied the chip,it turns off. It happens so fast that I can't even tell you what the voltage is there. My meter jumps then goes back to zero. I have seen as high as 2.9 volts D/C there. But as soon as power is applied to the chip, it turns off.

Your right, ps14 is bad. I took a chance and jumped the fuse out and sure enough the ps2 powered up and stayed on. The green light stayed on. So I guess I have to replace that fuse. I must have had some thing touching or shorted out that I missed. I have the mod chip completly removed now. So after I replace the fuse I will try to reinstall. Thanks guys.
