Up till now, I have no trouble backing up my DVD collection, until "Collateral". Tried DVD shrink and DVD Fab decrytor. I'm able to rip the video TS files and burn using Recordnow Max, but when I try to play it in my DVD player and PC, I get either a Please check disc or disc error. I burned 3 copies and not one works. I don't think it's my media, because my dvd blanks never gave me this problem. I would appreciate some good advice. Cheers!

Did you try to play the files on your comp?
Try ripping in ISO mode with DVD Decrypter load the ISO with Daemon Tools and then use DVD Shrink. If it plays on your comp it probably is a burning problem, maybe change burn speed /settings

Sometimes to keep things peaceful you need a Piece thats Full

What blanks are you using? Burn Speed? This sounds like a media problem. Your firmware on your drive may need updating too.
Also player and burner lens get dusty - always good to once in awhile use a lens cleaner to clean them off.

...PieceFull, I can open up each video TS file and play the files fine on my computer HDD. So, this shouldn't be a decryption problem with Shrink or DVDFab. You said use DVD Decrypter, but doesn't DVD Shrink already uses DVD Decrypter which is already built in? What will using Daemon Tools accomplish? And I always burn @ 1X.

...binkie7, I have been using the same media (CompUSA DVD-r)for my past burnings and no problem what so ever. And it's only this particular movie that's been giving me problem. Burned 3 coasters. Later, I backup a few other movies without problem. I'm just thinking that there may be a new decryption in the original that allows you to decrypt the movie but not allow you to play in the DVD player, because each individual video TS can be play directly from my Computer HDD. Strange.....

ps, thx for the inputs, any more are welcome! Cheers!

I find that when i burn as the ISO and then load it with Daemon i bypass all the protection that way. I swear by decrypter

Nothing special with this movie - I backed it up and no playback problems - been awhile but I either used AnyDVD w/ CloneDVD or shrink & decrypter.
CompUSA does not use the best manufacturers for their discs. The one consistent thing about poorer quality discs is they always give problems at some point - burn errors or playback. You can have inconsistency even in the same spindle.
The errors you received usually mean it's media related.
Make sure your firmware is up to date on your drive. I would also switch to quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.
Shrink and decrypter are two separate progs. Decrypter is a ripper and burner while shrink will rip/encode/compress but needs a burn engine like from decrypter or Nero to autoburn.
