Hey guys im a newbie to this forum and i broked my xbox hd. i softmodded it then i thought i would install slayers disk then i accidently deleted my dash i didnt make a backup of eeprom and i broke 3 pins in the ide of the hard drive. so ive been searching on how to fix it and would it work if i bought a seagate 10gb then used this.

Even you bought the brand new hdd with ms dash in there, your xbox won't run it. Because of a couple of reasons:
1/ Your xbox wont recognize the hdd key, so it can't read the hdd.
2/ You dont have the right eeprom in the hdd.

However, the modchip will fix it.

Would it work if i bought an eeprom reader with a new hd? or a new hd with a motherboard.

I'm not sure. But the best way to do is to install modchip. So you are not worry about hdd key and eeprom. Then you can install any brand new hdd. You dont have to buy a 10GB hdd because it is too small. You should buy at least a 120GB hdd. So you can store games in there.
