OK, My name is ryan and i really screwed up. took apart my console to clean it thinking it would fix my DRE (didn't do my research and didn't know the easy fix) put it all back together and the disk doesn't spin and those little lights that spin just close up into a ball. So now that i screwed up my V5 ps2 i bought 1 from my friend.
A fairly bad treaten ps2 but just had DRE and now that i knew it was so easy to fix i bought it for $15. Got that working but here is what puzzles me. I took it apart to see if the ribbon cables were the problem on my old ps2 (they were stripped but i didn't know about those clip holders,. wasn't the problem) I put it all back together except the cd drive box and all booted ok. lights were spinning, saw the video and heard the audio, did it once more 2 b sure. once more to get my hopes up.......and...... no video or sound.
What happened? what went wrong in that short of time of pressing the reset button 3 times? N e way i tried combining the two of the(after i researched everything) and still nothing. now i came here in hopes that you can solve my problem. Doesn't a 13 year old deserve a working ps2? Pleeeezzzzzzz Help!!!!

Sorry 4 the life story. My thinking.... more info....better understanding.....better and faster solution to my problem if there even is one. Thanks

Wow kid .. so you just tryed to fix the DRE problem and not install chip.. Sounds like a Blown fuse or one of youre cables are munched up .. DRE on V1-6 are 20% dirty laser 80% dead laser

ok so i checked all of the fuses with a multimeter and....... one is bad. bridged it by hand and got the browser screen. YAY!!!
no more BSOD. Plan to install the bridge and see how good it works when i bridged it by hand i got the browser screen but those stupid lights turning into a friggin ball!!!!!just did barebones maybe need 2 install cd unit b4 they go back to spinning?
o well pleeeezzz post b/c i appriciate n e help

REPLACE that fuse or your going to burn down your house by briging it. P11 is 1.2Amp SMD fuse replace with same type or your going to have fireworks!!!

Sadly to say....I think my ps2 is shot. I see a hole in the ba5815fm chip and as far as i care now let those fireworks fly!!!!!
Not really sure where to get another fuse anyway and i don't want to take it off my old ps2 (v5) but i can't help thinking about those lights. why do they go into a ball?? pleze help! maybe i can fix my old 1.thanxxxxxx!!!!!!
