Action replay max game saves

I'm not sure this is in the right discussion, but my ps2 is softmodded with flip top. Anyhow, my question is does anyone know how I could transfer an action replay max game save into ps2 memory card? I don't have usb stick or network adapter or new harddrive. I downloaded the max save game and burned it to cd and used file manager in launchelf and copied the file to the memory card but when I load the game, it says the save data is corrupt. Any suggestions?
