I backed up my version of Dynasty Warriors 5 and I was planning to get Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme Legends, but I read that you have to put in DW5 to unlock most of the game. People say (on other boards) that when they put in the original DW5 the PS2 only reads it for about 2 seconds and then you put XL back it. My question is, if I used a backup, would the PS2 recognize it (since it's being read during a game (like in Monster Rancher games, and I also have a question about that, can you use backuped games to get special monsters or will the PS2 not read it?))? If not, could I use a slide card/flit top to make it read it?

Hmm, I'm not sure, I don't think it is possible, as the disc will continue to spin until you eject, which you cannot do as the PS2 will refuse to load the backup again.

Try getting an Action Replay/Xploder/Gameshark disc for your PS2, see if this gives you the extra content.
