How much RAM do you have?
Usually an Out Of Memory error means just what it says.

1. I have 640MB of RAM so I'm pretty sure that's not the issue...

2. I'm not using AnyDVD...I'm using DVD Shrink

The error your getting mean shrink can't handle the copy protection on this movie. So you either need run anydvd (free 21 day trial) in the background like bilbo65 suggested or rip the movie w/ dvdfab decrypter then open and process the files thru shrink as usual.
Here's links for both:
http://slysoft.com (anydvd)
http://dvdidle.com/free.htm (dvdfab decrypter)

Here's also a guide from alkohol on how to do the movies using dvdfab decrypter, vobblanker (neat little free prog) and Record or Shrink:

Yeah, RAM doesn't seem to be an issue here. There must be some type of protection on the disc. Try ripping the disc with DVDFab Decrypter, then process the files through VobBlanker.

Ok, I'm ripping it with DVD Fab right now...

But a quick question. Running AnyDVD in the background while I rip with DVD Shrink will make it work?

@TyRock22
It should - AnyDVD has been updating alot lately in part to help shrink out with the new copy protections.
AnyDVD will handle anything out there esp. w/ CloneDVD2 but they're not free.
DVDFab Decrypter, Vobblanker, Shrink and depending on how your burn are all free and do the job also - just a few more steps.

Ok I did everything you guys said. I ripped it with DVD Fab. And then I opened it with Shrink, with AnyDVD running in the background! It got to 100% while Encoding with Shrink and then gave me the out of memory, the parameter is incorrect, error....

Oh and one more thing. I can't rip the dvd straight from the disk because I get the error:

DVD Shrink encountered an error...

Failed to read file "D:\"

Overlapped I/O operation is in progress

It did the same thing before when I ripped the ISO to the HD using Decrypter. I tried to open it and it gave me that message /\

Open DVD Shrink...go to edit-preferences-preferences tab...untick the box that reads "enable I/O overlapping, this may increase ripping performance". See if this corrects your problem. What movie are you backing up? Have you run the files created by DVDFab Decrypter through VobBlanker?

1. Ok I'll try that

2. It's Dragonball The Saga of Goku Volume 2 (I backed up volume 1 no problem)

3. No I don't have VOB Blanker...what does it do?

Do not have AnyDVD running in the background of Shrink. If you've already ripped it succesfully with DVDFAB then there is no need for AnyDVD behind Shrink, that will only give you more trouble. So here is what you do:

1)DVDFAB

2)VOBblanker, it will remove some crap that you don't need. This is completly optional

2)Shrink alone.

Well I tried doing what you said and it still failed. I did NOT have AnyDVD running this time and I still got the message. Did I mention the error doesn't come up until it has reached 100% Encoding?

@tyrock

Are you doing a full disc backup keeping all the menus and special features or reauthoring? Try to reauthor, you will lose your menu and special feature etc....you might also try inserting a still image into the unreferenced materials.

Well I don't want to re-author it because it has another movie on it, and I'm not sure where that movie is. Plus it is a disk full of episodes...right now I'm forcing Nero to burn the VOB files Shrink output before the error. It said 100% so I'm hoping it finished them.

I suspect that you must did something wrong (having AnyDVD running) while you're ripping the movie via DVDFAB Decrypter and or miss out something while using VobBlanker because it (VobBlanker) has never let me down.

DragonBall The Saga of Goku Volume 2 is nothing special, yes it has some bad sectors and or dummy cells, but VobBlanker should handle this flawlessly. I ripped and backed up The Saga of Goku Vol. 1 & 2 for my son and it worked beautifully using my usual method "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 + Nero Recode 2" without any glitches whatsoever.

EXTREMEMLY IMPORTANT HERE: you need to TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or other cracking engines running in the background when you are "ripping" the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.2 (or higher) and while you're "PROCESSING" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker 2.1.0.0. I strongly recommend you to disable/turn them off, if you have them installed on your system. It's for the best because if you didn't, then it is likely that you're going to see issues when loading and transcoding with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2.

Here's what you need to do:
- download DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.2 or the latest if there is one.
- download VobBlanker 2.1.0.0
- now install them on your system
- since you'd got DVD Shrink already, that's all you need.

**NOTE: before you start to rip your movie, go into your hard drive and make a folder name VOB_SAGA OF GOKU 2 and a sub-folder VIDEO_TS inside "VOB_SAGA OF GOKU 2", then EXIT out.

<><> Here comes the fun process of DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker method <><>

<1> rip your movie with DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.2 (or higher) to your hard drive (10 - 12 minutes of ripping)

<2> PROCESS the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker 2.1.0.0, do as the following:
(A) INPUT Folder = browse to your hard drive and select your VIDEO_TS file and click OPEN, this is the file that you successfully ripped with DVDFAB Decrypter earlier.
(B) OUTPUT Folder = browse to hard drive and locate your newly created folder VOB_SAGA OF GOKU 2 and VIDEO_TS, so it should read like this C:\VOB_SAGA OF GOKU 2\VIDEO_TS
(C) now click PROCESS (sit tight and wait, VobBlanker should be done within 5 - 10 minutes of processing)

<3> Open up DVD Shrink, Open Files and load/open your new VIDEO_TS file from VOB_SAGA OF GOKU 2 and continue to transcode as your usual shrinking process. Then finally, once DVD Shrink is completed, just burn your final VIDEO_TS or ISO file with any of your desire burning engines.

**NOTE: while loading your VIDEO_TS.IFO file into VobBlanker 2.1.0.0, look under "Action", all of the VTS should stated as "Process". However, if any of the VTS stated as SKIP, then you NEED TO click on "PROC.ALL" on the right for VobBlanker or it's Action to process all of the VTS files.

That's it... easy as sippin' on a Corona. For more info on how to use VobBlanker, click on my name or the bold link of "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" method under my sig. You can easily backup this movie by using "PgcEdit + PSL plugins + FixVTS + DVD Decrypter" with the link under my sig. as well, but the process is longer and more advanced, but it's another flawless method to backup any dvds/movies. I've primarily used "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" and "PgcEdit + PSL plugins + DVD Decrypter" and both methods worked flawlessly.

Good luck!!

Wow thanks for the in-depth guide, I'm using it right now. I got through the DVD Fab part easily, but the VobBlanker is taking FOREVER. The first program took like 10-15 min. BUt VOB Blanker has been going for like 20min and it's only at half way!

Ok well I cancelled that and restarted it but this time instead of the output files going to my second HD I have them going to my first HD. It is going faster but I now have a new problem...I only have about a gig and a half of free space left and it's slowly slipping away as this program runs!

@TyRock22

Out of curiosity, what are your system specs. (i.e. processor and RAM)? VobBlanker should take no longer than 5 - 15 minutes for processing the VIDEO_TS.IFO file.

You didn't have AnyDVD, DVD43 or any other cracking engines running in the background while you're processing the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker, did you?

I did all of my backups using DVDFAB Decrypter and process through VobBlanker and I've never experienced any issues at all.

Let me know while I'm here, so I can help alright.

I recommend you to TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or any cracking engines if installed on your system, check to make sure all of them is TURN OFF/DISABLED before you're going to proceed with VobBlanker. That way it won't conflict with VobBlanker when it's processing the VIDEO_TS.IFO file. You should not have any issues processing the file through VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 at all, if you'd ripped the movie (VIDEO_TS) into your hard drive already.

Here, look at picture for reference:

I wasn't having problems with the program, I was having problems because my input file was on my main hard drive and my output was on my second. Which made it run a lot slower. But VOB Blanker is done now so all I have to do is use Shrink at hopefully it will work...
