Hi!! my problem is that I have some avi files that I converted to DVD and when I use DVD Shrink to shrink the files to fit in a DVD-5 they exceed the "custom 4330" and I want them to fit in a DVD-5 because I don't want to waste a DVD-9 because I don't know if my standalone DVD player support DVD-9. Is there out any program that would let me shrink it to fit in a DVD-5 only. Thanks in advance.

So, just so I understand better-Why can't you shrink them with DVD Shrink? This is what Shrink does, makes a DVD-9 fit onto a DVD-5. What exactly is not working? do you get an error or something?

spitfire6,
How big are the files you converted and I presume you converted them to MPEG-2 DVD Compliant files. You standalone should play the DVD-9 as all of my Standalone play any D/L I do. If you burner can Booktype the blank D/L then all the better.
Unless you are trying to shrink 7+gb w/ DTS sound Shrink should compress the file as cyprusrom stated. You could also compress it to HD once and then re-compress it a 2nd time to DVD

my problem is when I hit the backup button a message appears. It says:

" The Current DVD size is too big! If you continue, you may not be able to burn the resulting files".

"Please ensure that video is set to "Automatic" compresion, or try disabling some audio streams".

That means you have to st the compression to "Automatic". If you follow Alkohol's guide, when you get to quality settings, instead of "High Quality" like he has set up, choose "Automatic"

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272946

When you get to this page, select "Automatic";

spitfire6,
How big is the file that you converted. You can Shrink it to HD first and then re-Shrink that compilation to DVD. Is it going to be good quality , probably not because of the compression . That is why I asked how big were the converted files today earlier

Okay, now wait a minute... So you are trying to shrink with DVD Shrink and get that message? I thought you were converting from AVi to DVD with Nero. Then you need the compression set to automatic in DVD Shrink.
I just wonder,Divx2DVD does not have a setting that you can choose so the converted file will fit to a DVD-5, DVD-9 or whatever? I only use Nero Vision or Winavi to do that, and I have never had to shrink the converted files. All you have to do is set the target to fit a DVD in your converter(Divx2DVD). Depending on your Avi 's size, the converter will automatically adjust the bitrate to make it fit.

In preferences, have the target DVD size set to about 4350MB. DVD Shrink will automatically shrink it to fit to a 4350Mb.

spitfire6 ,
The size is OK and cyprusrom is correct. I am wondering if the files might have a corrupt.ifo file because within the converted files there should be 18 VOB ,ifo and bup files. DivXtoDVD usually does that for you. Have you tried to play the converted files on the computer to see what they look like? You still might want to run them through NeroVision and make a menu w/ chapters

Something is not right. I have been able to shrink a 7000Mb movie and fit it to a DVD. I would suggest to run them through VobBlanker, maybe it will fix strucrure problem, or shrink it twice, like Mike says.

spitfire6,
Go thru each VOB and make sure they are all set on automatic. If you have Nero Recode( Remake a Movie) try the vob's in there and see if Nero can get it to 4350 or so. Is this a movie that you D/l'd or homemade movie? You might try to Shrink to HD and then re-shrink that folder to DVD and see if the quality is OK

spitfire6,
You run the files through Shrink in Automatic and then save it to a folder on the HD that you can name. After that close Shrink and then open Shrink again and point it to the files that you just did and let them analyze again and this time( if it will fit on DVD) you will burn to HD

Make a folder on the desktop and call it "Shrinked Files". Now In Shrink go to > Backup>Target Device> Select Target Device>Create DVD Files> Hard Disk folder. After Shrink has Shrinked the files then open Shrink again and find the folder " Shrinked files"> and have Shrink re-process the files as you normally would and if it will fit on a DVD-5 then burn it to DVD

You might try NeroVision. Do you have Nero 6 or 7? Nero used to have a trial period ( fully functional) for their software so you might look for that. Just do not install INCD when you install Nero as that program gives problems to some systems

hey Car.Mike sorry to bother you a lot but I have a little problem. It's that I use a Verbatim 16X DVD to burn an a iso. The write speed I use is 1x. When burning proccess starts about 2% it gaves my an error(I can remember the error). So I try again with another Verbatim DVD and did the same thing. Then I try with a Khypermedia and the burning proccess was successfully completed. Do I need to change the write speed when I try to burn with the Verbatim or what I'm doing wrong.
