I am getting a Sony DRU500a to use with DVD XCopy. My home theater DVD player will play DVD-R and DVD+R formats. Is either format better for copying DVD's in general and movie DVD's in particular? I want the best quality.

Thank you

I don't believe either one is that much better than the other. Use what you find works best for you. But if you buy cheap media it isn't going to matter much. They both could fail.

Hello
From what HP claims, the DVD+R/RW are the best, but HP really is the only one big in the plus market. It still is not reconized by the dvd head groups that came up with the format which is why it has an odd logo and not the standard dvd logo. I find DVD minus to be cheaper but if quality is what you want I would do internet searching first. A lot of people have various views on this one. From the hated Microsoft world, I have heard that future version of their OS will mainly support DVDplus. So this could be a future problem. I suggest buying plus and minus RW and test them out, see if you can see or hear any difference. But be fair, don't compare sony +RW to Princo -RW, the sony will win.
