HD Advance or Modchip?

Whats up, I just bought a ps2 and have been checking into modding it. Just wanted to know if I should get a modchip and put it in or just get hd advance and use the hard drive. I modded my xbox last year so I'm familiar with modding and soldering chips...I just wanted to venture to the ps2 world for a while. Which is the best way to go? or maybe even go with both? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is it a slim or fat ps2 (hd advance doesn't work on slimlines)? Either way, I would get a chip because you can do a lot more with it (including using a burnt hd advance disc).

thanks for your reply. Like i said before I'm new to ps2 modding but i've been around the xbox modding scene for a long time. Just in the few days i've been researching i think I like DMS4 modchip. Not sure if I like the lite or the pro...not sure if i'll need all that flash memory but honestly cost is not an issue..i just want a great chip. I think i've decided to go with solderless as well...hopefully that works out for me.
