I have been looking at a couple of other threads on the I/O error but was wondering if this one is a little different:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Invalid data in file "c:\"movie"\Video_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB"
Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.

I see where alkohol gave lengthy/detailed instructions using VObBlanker and DVDFAB, etc. Is there an easier way to solve this problem? Can this problem be solved with the same instructions? I have backed up 3 dvd's but I have run into two that are giving me a problem.

Use alkohol's guides - they may be lengthy but that's because they guide you thru the process step by step - leaving no room for error.
Plus depending on what you burn with - all the progs used can be free. Can't get much better than that!
Not free but handles everything out there is AnyDVD (21 day free trial).
You can download from http://slysoft.com
This will run in the background 'helping' shrink.
Also in shrink try checking this: go to edit>preferences>file i/o tab - check 'enable overlapping i/o'
Which movies are you doing?

Under preferences I do have enable overlapped I/O checked already. I am trying to backup Proof and Dark Water.

Any idea why these two are giving me a problem and not others? Is it something new with these movies versus the ones I have done...Gone in 60 seconds, Mission Impossible 2 and Minority Report?

These 2 have the newer protections that shrink can't handle by it's lonesome. The other 3 you listed just have the normal protection that shrink can deal with.
If you don't want to use the free method then try AnyDVD. It's a driver that runs in the background and will get past the protection on these.
It's also one of the ways I did these.

Sorry i didnt see this thread earlier. Overlapped I/O is an easy one to fix.
Un-check "Enable overlapped I/O" in your shrink preferences. Heres is where i found that problem with my system. Scroll down to where i find it, and fix it. You can skip the rest of that thread if you want as this will fix that part of your problem. May not fix everything, but it will fix that one.

Its one of my earlier posts, so i threw the page formatting off by putting up too wide pictures, but it is still valid.

Ive been in the Nero forum so long, i forgot about shrink and the newbie forums..
