Problem with Sony Vaio notebook and DVDs

I have many of the same issues as in the "Sony Vaio Notebook DVD-Rom won't read DVD+R" thread.
I have the Sony Vaio PG3 with a Mashita ujda 755, Firmware 1.0. Look to the above thread to see what it can and can't read - the only difference is that it can also read DVD-RAM as compared to the 710 in that posting.
I have a Sony DVD RW DRU-710A on my Dell. I wrote some images to DVD-Rs using Roxio. My Vaio won't read them even though it's suppose to be able to read DVD-Rs.

Any suggestions?
