I've read somewhere in the forums (where I can't remember - these forums are so huge now) that you can't play games off of a hard drive (through the network adaptor) and be online at the same time. So a game like SoCom couldn't be played if it was backed up to the hard drive. But, isn't Final Fantasy XI - the only game for the official Sony hard drive - designed to be an online game? How does that work?

So the game doesn't run off the hard drive, it just stores info. So the hard drive can be active at the same time as the network adaptor unless it's under the control of the exploit that allows you to run the games off the hard drive?

Thanks so much for posting a reply.

No your wrong once FFXI is installed to the HDD you dont need to have the disc in your PS2.

@pagejames

I see your confusion, however you must understand that when you are playing back-ups from the HDD with apps like Toxic OS, HDL/HDA these are not Sony made applications and they take over the network adapter thus disabling the NA for net use. When you are playing FFXI you are booting the game from Sonys HDD browser which is of course an official app made by Sony and you can still go online.

That was kinda what I was thinking. Thanks a million for helping it to make sense.
