Hi: Upgraded NVE2 from V2.1.2.16 to V3.1.0.25 because of the "improvements" touted by Nero. What has happened since the upgrade, it takes hours instead of minutes, to make a DVD from Mpeg2 files. I use to have a 4 Chapter DVD made in minutes (in the old version) which turned to hours in the New version. It appears that the program re-digitizes the streams instead of using the digitizing rates that was originally recorded on the Mpeg2 files. I'm certain that the older version didn't go thru all those gyrations, but simply took "what you input, is what you get". Looks like a major step backwards. Does anyone have any fixes for this apparent problem? Thanks in advance for any replies.
Nero Vision is Notorious for re-encoding already DVD compliant MPEG-2 files. I found this post on another forum. It is from a fellow named Craig, who works for Nero. He posts here every now and then too.

Nero Vision will check the source MPEG-2 file to confirm it is MPEG-2/DVD Compliant, if it's not, then it will automatically Re-Encode the file to make it compliant.
We did find that some MPEG-2 files created by TMPGEnc and DivX were not being properly recognized by our software as being compliant, and we are taking steps to address this. We have already made some improvements in this area in the current build of NVE 3.0.1.18 posted on our website.
And the NVE 3.0.1.25 and later builds have already improved on this more, but still needs to be debugged before posting.
We are continuing to ask customers to provide us with information about any MPEG-2 files that are not being properly detected by our software, and what program created it so that we can insure compatibility between the programs.
so are you telling me that if i went down to nerovision 2 that it would encode MPEG-2 formats into dvd in no time at all was not yet on Nero duron the 2.0 era...plz i am all for downgrading for the faster MPEG-2 results
Hi: That's the results I've seen continually. I bring in a bunch of History Channel Files that have been recorded by an off the shelf recorder. The vehicle I use is DVD Decryptor to bring them in as a VOB file. Then, because I want to remove the commercial breaks, I use the VideoReDo editor to excise out the commercials which creates an MPEG2 file. I combine 4 or 5 of the episodes into Titles, and if needed, I build up the Chapters in each one. Using NeroVision 2.xx.x. I can create a DVD in about 20 minutes. Then, because the Chapter generation is flakey in V2.xx.x I downloaded Version 3.xx from Nero's website and then it took 5+ hours to create a DVD that use to take me 20 minutes. So, I reverted back to V2.xx.x and am burning the DVDs in 20 or so minutes. It looks as though Version 3.xx was a gigantic step backward - too bad they didn't put a switch in the program to ignore the rebuilding effort and give you the Newer Chapter routines that are far superior to that of V2.xx.. I think Roxio did the same thing and it is not a good program in my opinion. If anyone would care to do some research on it, let me know and I'll send you the MPEG2 files created by VideoReDo (an outstanding program).
do you know of a good sight to find an old version of nerovision express 2....i have 3 but wanna go back but cant find an older version please help if you can
Hi: Send an email to krujo@sbcglobal.net with an address - I have an OEM version of Version 6 which contains the NeroVision Express V2.x program. Will send you a copy. Be aware, when you move back to that version, the Chapter generation works, but you won't have the flexibility that you have in Version 3.x
