I am looking for a guide that shows how to copy DVD Videos over to DVD+R DL media, without using compression like DVDShrink does.

Getting quite expensive turning my Verbatim DVD+R DL media into coasters with all my failed tries.

Here is the procedure I tried last:
1. rip original DVD video(2.5 hour movie) to hard drive using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4. Booktype set to DVD-ROM. It created a 7.5GB ISO file
2. Then, using DVD Shrink, tried to rip this file (using ISO Image) from HD to DVD+R DL. As you know DVD Shrink goes out and uses Nero.
3. It gets an error and fails right after it starts to write.

Media is Verbatim. Media seems fine as I have created some data DVDs using BackItUp from Nero with them. Drive is Sony DRX-810UL firmware 2.0d. Using Nero 6.3.1.6.

I am flabbergasted that DL seems so edgy to work with. Just a royal pain in the a*** to deal with this sensitive stiff(reminds me of trying to burn CDRs back in the mid-90's)

All I am trying to do is copy my longer DVD videos so that there is picture quality loss(due to compression), and so that the copies will also be able to play in current stand-alone DVD players. There must be hundreds of people who have pulled this off, yet I cannot find a guide on this. Please assist!

Thanks,
Robert

Maybe instead of using Shrink, you can possibly use DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO onto the DL disc. Try just using DVD Decrypter for ripping and burning.

As suggested use DVD Decrypter to backup to your dl, you already have ripped the iso, just open the MDS file and use iso write. There is no reason to use Shrink at all unless you are compressing. Nero is really not all that good for doing dl backups. Here is a guide showing how to use Decrypter

Burn at 2.4x. Decrypter will place the layer break correctly using the MDS file.
