First let me say that I found this site yesterday and am completely impressed. The eMule tutorial was great and after one evening i'm zipping along in the 30's to 40's range.
I have a followup question about these .bin files. There are a couple other files with my .bin downloads i grabbed just in case i need them. There is a .nfo file and two other files that i do not remember their extensions. They all match except the .nfo file does not designate what CD it belongs on. Also, I have yet to try this in my Nero, but basically you're saying just burn the files using Nero onto two separate CD's (which is what it calls for i guess). And execute which file? Is there a tutorial on this topic? I am sorry for asking such a newbie type question, i'm sure it happens quite often.
Yes, before you burn onto a CD, you'll need to rename it from .bin.exe to .bin extension(without .exe at the end).
To do this in Windows XP you need to do the follwing: -
1 Open a folder (doesn't matter which one)
2 Select 'Tools' on the menu bar
3 Select 'Folder Options'
4 Under the 'View' tab, DESELECT/UNCHECK the 'Hide extensions for known file types' option
5 Click 'Apply'
You will now be able to rename the file with .bin extension.
To burn the .bin file onto the CD, I would recommend you to use CDRWIN verion 5 software. As this program allows you to test the image before burning, by creating a Virtual CD drive into your PC.
But as far as I know, .exe files are execute file, e.g. a program where you double click to launch or run it. Where as .bin is the image file for certain writing software.
So basically, .bin.exe is asking the user to double click to launch/run the image, which is impossible because image file is not a program
