Hi all,

I've been trying to back up a movie, and also make a clone of a dvd I created on my dvd recorder, but both instances keep coming out with skips and pixelation here and there - not a lot, just a very few.

I've done this before with no problems - I don't do it often, but it's just recently come up with these issues. The burns finish with no errors, but when I take a look at them I find the odd little freezes or skips.

The firmware for my burner has been updated, I've tried several different softwares, and I've also tried both Memorex and Maxell dvds -- I've adjusted the burn rates right down to 1x. There's plenty of memory on my computer, and all else seems to be fine.

I'm not sure if it's related, but I also noticed that Windows Media Player has been glitchy just recently -- the most recent version is installed. Note: when I check my burned dvd's I'm doing it on my dvd player, not on my pc.

Is there anything that anyone can think of that might be "off", or something that might have become corrupt somehow? I'm just at a loss for what it causing this since I'm getting no errors and I've gone through burn rates, software, media.....what the heck?!

Sony DVD RW DRU-530A is my burner.....I've been trying with Memorex -R and Maxell -R

Thanks for any thoughts!!!

By the way, I'm not asking for help with DVD-R, lol! Just any general thoughts on the situation that might be conjured up through ripping experience... ;)

philraz, I just wanted to let you know that you were bang on with your suggestion. The Maxell and Memorex DVDs work fine with my DVD recorder, but when I was burning on my computer they were the cause of the little dropouts.

I picked up a spool of Verbatim DVDs today and they're working beautifully!

Thanks again!
