Data error: Cyclic redundancy check is an error message that I occassionally get when attempting to backup certain dvd's. The error meassage has occurred during analysis and encoding, leaving no choice but to exit. I rarely get this error, but it seems to occur on the same movies, time after time.
Thanks

It could mean 1 of 3 things: A dirty disc, copy protection on the disc or it's a bad press (meaning the disc will have to be replaced by another original). Try cleaning the disc first. If the disc is copy-protected, you can either use AnyDVD with DVD Shrink, Nero Recode or CloneDVD 2. Another thing you could do is rip the disc with DVDFab Decrypter, then process the files through VobBlanker to strip away the protection. Open the files you get from VobBlanker with either DVD Shrink, Nero Recode or CloneDVD 2. It's all smooth sailing once you do this. If the disc is a bad press, then you're pretty much screwed. You'll have to get another original copy.
