I posted about spraying dvds a few weeks ago. I have since tried the Patricia Nomack's spray on some Memosux discs I had. The Memorex have a smoother surface and thus had the "orange peel" effect. However, when I tried it on a Maxell printable (which is a matte surface) the spray did not do the orange peel look. Also, I have tried the Krylon fixative on the Maxells and no orange peel look. Is this because these sprays don't react well to the smoother surfaces and not so much the spray themselves? I have read on here that Taiyo Yudens are more matte type surface and Verbatims are smooth. Have you tried the Patricia spray on both Verbs and Taiyos? How do you prevent smudging and fingerprints on the silver Taiyos?

Thanks,
Keith

You are correct. It is the surface more than it is the spray. The surface of the Taiyos is like the surface of the MAXELLs. The Verbs are smoother than the TY and MAXELL, but not as smooth as the Memorex. I use TY and Verb exclusively and never get the "orange peel" effect anymore. The more you use the spray, the better your application technique will become!!! You will notice that it is much easier to apply without the "orange peel" effect with a full or near full can than it is with an almost empty can.

I have never used the silver printables. I only use hub printables and non of the silver discs are hub printable...

teflonmyk, what spray do you use to seal your DVD's? I am looking into trying out a few different ones to see which performs best and your feedback would be helpful. I have ordered some Ty's and am hoping to try a few different sample sprays on them. The smoothest hub printable I have tried were Prodisc, and Verbatims had a slightly rougher finish but both print exceptionaly well with my Epson printers. I like hub printables best but on occasion I do use others that require the other type of printable DVD's because some covers have as much as a 40mm center space that look poorly if used with a hub printable. "Certain" covers look especially vivid with the Silver printables because of the holographic nature of the finished print. War of the Worlds comes to mind as one that looked slick with use of the silver printable type. I am looking for a spray that gives a pro look to the disc and dries very quickly. Any suggestions? Also, where is Patricia Nomack's spray sold? Thanks.
