I recently got some imation DVD-r s and i am having roblems burning anything on them, this includes ps2 backups and just general files.

When i burn somthing, i set it at max, but it just burns at 1x.

I previously used other discs and had no problems.

My drive is a sony DW-U10a. The discs are 8X but my drive cannot support this speed.

Any way i can burn normaly with these discs and why is the problem occuring?

Thanks

check your firmware for your drive it may be out of date and this can be the reason for slow burn

They do say that It can mess up your drive.. I personally have been lucky enough not to have that problem...

If you open DVD Decrypter go to Tools Drive Check for Firmware updates
It will bring you to this website
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces=MAD+DOG+MD-16XDVD9
The updates it's showing from the link I gave are for My Drive... but if you go through DVD Decrypter it will bring you to a firmware update page for your drive...

These are NOT the best discs you can use and is probably ONE of your problems.
Suggest you try a better brand of disc like Verbatimor Taiyo Yuden and burn at4X NOT max.

I used DVD Decrypter to get the firmware but it just says that no drive has been found. I know other people have had problems with this and in another thread, someone posted the link to working firmware but its now invalid!

Anyone know where i can get it from?

yeah but when i download it, it just says drive not found. I think this is a known problem with updating this firmware as i have seen other people asking about it. I saw in another thread a link to a firmware upgrade that worked, but link is now invalid.

I'd say that if you can burn other discs at full speed or another speed other than 1x and these only burn at 1x it's just BAD MEDIA
