First off, hello everyone I'm new year so apologizes if this has already been posted.

And now my actual question - I have a DVD [24 Season 4 boxset] that I wish to backup, as I dislike using original DVD's incase they are scratched. But on the DVD it says that it is Copy Protected and I was wondering if its is legit to back this DVD, as I do not wish to break the law for a mere backup!

If it is legit, is it a simple case of rip and burn using DVD Decrypter?

It is my understanding that you may have a single backup of the dvd's that you own (I have not actually read the law). As far as backing it up there are lots of threads already containing information to help you. Just search for one.

I use DVD Shrink to make copies of my dvd's, I just pop in the dvd, open DVD Shrink, open the disk, re-auther the disk to my liking, and then back it up on my hard drive. Its wierd that i dont have any-dvd or some other decryptor installed which it sounds like according to the majority of threads you need to backup newer dvds..i have not run into too many problems so far though.

Hope this is of some help..being that i am a newbie to these forums also.
