I have used the new any dvd ripper and am able to rip the movie to a file. Once it's there, however, I can't do anything with it. I try and open it through shrink and I am unable to. I also can't open it through dycrypter. I'm probably just forgetting something simple, but can anyone help me out?

It's an older movie. Hellraiser inferno.

What kind of file(s) is it creating? Iso? Video TS and Audio TS folder? Once ripped to the hard drive, DVD Decrypter will not be able to open it unless it is in iso format and you mount it in an imaginary drive using something like Daemon Tools.

poplau,
Welcome to the forum. Try running AnyDVD and just use Shrink as you are ripping it to HD and unless it is a problematic movie AnyDVD does not have to be used that way. That was an added feature for Hard to do movies. Sounds like you have a bad rip
I would suggest that if you want to rip it to HD then you use DVDFAB Decrypter. Then use Shrink to process

DVDFAB Decrypter: DVDIdle.com/free.htm" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.DVDIdle.com/free.htm

ebega ,
I think he is talking about AnyDVD not DVDDecrypter as you can now rip a movie to HD using AnyDVD

Correct, Car.Mike

I am just trying to increase my options with ripping. I have already ripped it with fabdecryptor, but I wanted to experiment with the AnyDVD ripper. I think I have successfully ripped it to a video ts file since it indicates that it is a 4.? size gig file, but I can't write it.

I did have trouble with AnyDVD and shrink. Got an error of some sort......might have been cyclical redundancy, but don't remember for sure. That's when I tried fabdecryptor and it seems to have worked. I was just experimenting with the AnyDVD ripper for future reference and thought maybe I was doing something wrong in trying to write it once it was ripped.

Sometimes DVDFAB Decrypter is better than AnyDVD when it rips the file to HD. The error you got might have been a CRC Error. Clean the disk real well and try AnyDVD again and see if that helps

Thanks.

I guess my question still is though, once I have ripped the movie by using AnyDVD and I selected my destination folder, how do I open that file up once it's in its destination folder? I tried clicking on open files in shrink and got an error. Is shrink the program I should be using to try and open that file?, or am I using the wrong program?

I'm sure part of my original problem is the fact that the disc is somewhat "weathered" and worn. It wasn't until one of the more recent AnyDVD updates that I read in the history that AnyDVD now provided its own ripper so I wanted to try it, especially since it boasted that it would automatically "fix" copies that had problems. By the way, whats the best thing to use to clean discs? Someone told me toothpaste works well.

poplau,
I think the reason it did not open was it was a bad rip as a "weathering" DVD could cause that. I just use Water and a Eye Glass cleaning cloth.

You're right...must have just been a bad rip. I tried using the AnyDVD ripper with another movie and was able to open the files in shrink. Thanks for the help
