I'm trying to install a new version of Nero but it fails. What should I do?

Please follow the steps below:
1. Download to your Desktop the General CleanTool and unzip the file with WinZIP or WinRAR.

Important notes
It´s only possible for you to start the General CleanTool if you have administration rights on your PC. If you are no administrator, an error message occurs.
Make sure you have your Nero 7 serial number to install Nero/Nero Express with. It should look like 1C80-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxx.
The serial key should be located at the inside of the Nero jewel case the Nero CD came in.
Alternatively, you can extract your serial number from your registry: Click on your start menu and select ´Run´. Type in ´REGEDIT´ and click okay. Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder, the Software folder, the Ahead folder and the Nero Burning ROM folder. Then open the Info folder. You should see your serial number in the right window next to the name ´Serial7´.
Also all plug-ins will be removed with this tool. So please make sure you have saved any plug-in you purchased separately that you can reinstall them afterwards.
2. Double-click on the EXE file to run the CleanTool. Select 'Clean All' and click on the 'Clean' button to uninstall all Nero products.
3. Reboot your system. It will clean the registry and remove all Nero entries.
4. Download the latest Nero release from our website. After you reinstalled it on your PC, use your serial key to deactivate the demo mode.

Important notes
InCD 5 can be removed completely under Win9xx after a reboot. The General CleanTool recognizes a running program and will request a shut down so it can remove files associated with a program after a reboot.
Updates to the latest versions of 7 are free of charge.
The Nero 6 serial number does not work for Nero 7 Premium.
To upgrade to Nero 7 Premium from a previous version, please purchase a Nero 7 Premium serial number in our online shop.
