Computer freezes while ilo burned dvd videos are being read

After burning and finalizing my videos recorded using ilo they're unable to be read by my computer and freeze during the process. I'm using the original firmware for the DVDR05ZU ilo model and I have a Micro Advantage dvd writer. I haven't had problems reading DVD-RW disks after recording, but my computer would freeze when trying to read video burned on DVD+R disks. Would updating my ilo firmware fix the problem? And if so, would finalizing with the updated firmware allow my remaining videos to be read or only the videos I've recorded after updating?
