Are they Ritek Ridata?

I don't know the MID code of those smartbuy ruco -8x. If you know that code,it'll tell who actually made them. Here's some of the manufacturers for some of their media:

Smartbuy DVD+R 16X (PRODISCR04)
Smartbuy DVD+R 8X (PRODISCR03)
Smartbuy DVD+R 8X (PRODISCR04)
SmartDisc DVD-R 2x (MXL RG01....)
SmartDisc DVD-R 4x (LONGTEN 001.)

Except for the MXL rg01,the rest are crap. If they are Ritek Ridata, they should code as Ritek-G05. Some peeps have been reporting issues with them.

I'd take the verbatim first, ridata second, and wouldn't even consider the smartbuy.

Here's a site for 100 ritek ridata dash 8x: Ritek-G05 for around $27,not including shipping:

http://supermediastore.com/ritek-ridata-8x-dvd-r-retail-10off-mir.html

Those verbs have Metal Azo dye,and should be the best of that bunch. You should get them cheaper than that $32 a 100 pack tub.

Supermedia store has them, but a $25 rebate. Check them out.
Rima.com also has some quality verbs and riteks.
Meritline.com is also another great choice.

With those prices of 28-30 cents each, without shipping: I'd get the dash 8x taiyo yudens. You may be able to find the shiny thermal printables well below that price. These will code as Ty-g02 and also feature the metal azo dye.

Another member just posted newegg.com as selling fake tys to him,so avoid their ty media.Try those other stores I listed.

so this website is more reliable than Newegg???? Thanx a lot. BTW, if I choose Ground shipping then i get free shipping right?

Does the price change very often though? Cuz I can only buy it tomorrow, not today.

Should I get this?
TAIYO YUDEN: (since I heard its the best brand???)
http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-4x-dvd-r-media-silver-matt...

BTW, is that fake disc?

I'm still very new to these DVD-R brands so I need more questions/answers. Thanx a lot again.

TAIYO YUDEN are considered the best along with Verbatim.

Prices do change (due to sales).

Sources for TY's are:

http://www.supermediastore.com

http://www.rima.com

http://www.meritline.com

http://www.newegg.com

Check prices at all the places before you buy. Buy what fits your budget. Usually, the more you buy at one time, the cheaper per disc.

Happy shopping!

And NEC ND-3540A burner does support these DVD-R's right?

It should handle those ty-go2s.Very-very slim chance of a firmware update for your nec to handle them.

Some of those stores may list 4x ty,but you may get 8x ty. Still excellent, high quality media. With all the horror stories I am hearing about those Ritek-g05's,I'd go with the tys. It's getting very difficult to find the quality 4x ty-g01 media.

You can get some more info here:
