Nero Recode Version Issues.

Long story short, I recently re-installed all programs on my PC and downloaded/installed quite a few patches/updates. The one patch I HAD to get was Nero 6.6.1.4 because of WinXPSP2 compatibility issues.
While I was at the Nero site, I also downloaded the NeroVision Express update (3.1.0.25). My current version was 2.1.2.0. After installing this update, I was no longer able to successfully backup DVD's, as Nero Recode would not create a valid DVD image. It would successfully encode and create an image, but that image would not play to the menu, and even when burned to disc, did not seem to have any playable movie/video.
Anyway, I reverted back to Recode 2.1.2.0 and was able to successfully backup the DVD that earlier, I could not. I changed nothing else, but the version, and made no extra steps in order to backup the DVD. I originally had tried with and without processing through VOBBlanker.
Anyone else experience this? It was really strange because after many successful backups, suddenly I was no longer able to. Luckily I had a feeling it was the update, and uninstalled it.
If anyone else has noticed this, maybe a moderator could post a sticky warning regarding upgrading Recode 2... it certainly gave me a couple days of trouble. However if this is just an isolated incident, then just ignore me I guess.

I guess you didn't really read the whole post.
My post is regarding the version issues of NVE (Recode) 3.1.0.25. I am now able to recode a DVD without problems, but I *had* to upgrade Nero to 6.6.1.4 because of SP2. I just tried putting an image on DVD and the disc will play in Media Player on my PC, but not on my DVD player which has ALWAYS played backed up DVD's. Also I noticed that Nero used to ask me if I wanted to burn a Multisession disc (I always say No) and it didn't ask me this time.
I guess I'll try downloading and installing 6.6.1.8. Can I just use that patch to update, or should I actually uninstall and re-install?
Also, after I install and patch to 6.6.1.8, I guess I'll just stick to Recode 2, since the current patch wouldn't allow me to create a successful image. Do I need any plugins to properly burn a disc? I don't remember what plugins I installed when my software WAS working.

Dont know if this will help, but this is what Nero lists as the current versions. My guess would be if you see your version listed, its probably buggy as both 6x and 7x latest versions have bugs

I've seen you post that twice, Maxburn.
If you read the post rather than just posting cut/pasted pre-canned crap, you'd realize that the NVE version I was using was 2.1.2.0, and my Nero version was 6.6 until I had to upgrade because of Service Pack 2. Now it's 6.6.0.18.
I have been able to make tons of backups, until now. My previous problem was that images were no longer valid. Now I have valid image files, but cannot get them successfully on DVD. The DVD burns without errors, but will not play in my DVD player. I have never had problems with DVD+R's in my player before, and other burns still work.
Funny thing is, before all these updates whenever I burned a DVD it would always burn through and then say Burn Failed... but it would be a valid disc. Now it says Burned Successfully, and they don't play. Wierd.

Lets be clear on this, you were told to CHANGE to Nero6.6.0.18 because your version of 6.6.1.4 contained bugs, it had NOTHING to do with SP2.

Geez gwendolin, you're way off base. Let me slow this up and explain this over again. Keep in mind, prior to wiping my PC, I had NO problems.
I installed Nero 6.6 and with WinXpSP2, I had to download the update from the website, the latest being 6.6.1.4. This isn't anything YOU told me, this was something I did before I knew that most Nero updates are still buggy. It's a fact that 6.6 isn't compatible with SP2. So I upgraded. Anyway I had problems as I listed, and did take your advice to patch to 6.6.0.18 instead. That didn't help.
I fixed my problem of not being able to recode DVD's, by keeping Recode 2.1.2.0 instead of upgrading to 3.1.2.5. Now I'm not able to put the image on DVD.
I've never had problems before, and unfortunately I kinda wish I didn't have to wipe my PC. It's obvious I won't get any help here though because people that have replied either assume the easiest answer, assume the poster is stupid and doesn't know what they are doing, or just don't read the whole post.

I was at work read your post, On my own break-time, i looked for an answer for you. I looked at the Nero site and found the version numbers. I figured it might give you some help. Hatboy had a similar post so yes, i cut and pasted. Obviously you dont want my help, as everyone must read your post and memorize everything then get slammed for not fixing your problem exactly. Yes, im thru helping you also. I dont need this crap from anyone when i try to help. So help yourself buster. Your free help from me just ran out.

Yes, I've installed Nero several times, each time un-installing it and using clean tool, with reboots between each step.
Funny thing is, Windows Media will play the DVD, but my DVD player will not.
