the Dynex 16x DVD-R media is probably going to be the RitekF1 media ID coding, naturally made in taiwan as ALL Ritek media is made in taiwan~ :)

as to how "good" they are? i can't say i've ever used them before, so i don't really know...Ritek might have improved their dye for the 16x rated discs, can't say for certain...i haven't purchased Ritek in the DVD-R format since my Ridata Ritek 8x DVD-R RitekG05 coded media (which btw, were VERY GOOD for me, they are not the white inkjet printable variety that so many people have had bad deterioration issues with...they were Ridata branded..matte surface) :)

if you do try these Dynex out, please let us all know how the new RitekF1s perform for you, make sure your firmware for your burner is up to date or else your drive might not even recognize this media at all, let alone write to them correctly as the write strategies will be missing/not available...good luck if you choose to try them out, for ME personally, i only use Taiyo Yuden produced media in the DVD-R format now, i don't even use Verbatim MCC media in the DVD-R format, i have my own reasons why, but if i were to suggest any DVD-R format for you, the list would go TY, Verbatim, then Sony (all these in the 8x rated speed too, i really don't like the 16x rated DVD-R speed media available at this point in time, regardless of manufacturer; but in the DVD+R circle, 16x DVD+R if you in the U.S., nothing beats the Verbatim MCC004 coded 16x DVD+R media, excellent quality discs) :)

Hello gurnard. With those MCC-004, I have to burn them at least 8x with my benq 1640. Too many crc errors on the few I burned at 2.4x. The 4x scans looks ok,still quite a few errors. Definitely 8x scored the fewest errors, and 12x was just a hair behind. I just got through burning 350 of them with 1 burn coaster. The couple hundred I burned before that had no issues. 1 coaster out of 500 is about par for these verbs/ritek r-03/and Maxell-002-00 on all 3 of my benqs.

On my 1620s, 4x performs very good. I still burn them at 8x as well.

If you got a benq, definitely up that burn speed on those puppies.

Now I got a batch of 600 sony Yuden000-T02 to burn up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
150 for 150 success so far!

Here fishy-fishy-fishy!!!!!!!!! LOL

Nic gif gurnard! My hat's off to Ireland!

If you got a quality drive like benq/plextor/Lite-on/LG/Pioneer/Sony/nec- then a couple thousand should be no problem. Just feed them quality media, keep discs clean, don't run a lens cleaning disc in them unless you have to.Those cleaning discs are a last resort, before pulling a drive.

The hardest thing on DVD-RW drives is the ripping. Use another burner-which I use a khypermedia and HP640c,or separate DVD-rom drive to do the ripping and playing your dvds on your pc.

Well over 3000+ dvd backups on my original I/O magic 16x which is a re-badge Benq 1620. Burning only. Over 300+ on the fly backups as well. 99.9+% success backups!

@ saugmon hi :)
have'nt seen that frog around for a while.
just did 6 of them at about 8x, i don't do scans as a rule but did on these. pie was 0.45 average pif was 0.00 average .although the quality scan was 93%
I use Liteon 1693S it starts at 6x then kind of works it's way slowly up to 8x during the burn (thats why i said about 8x ^^^ )
it's the beginning of my second year with AD so new year, new fish (well same fish but new life)
ireland came up with some new fish for me in another thread, but i said in jest that i'd be quite happy with my gurnard if the tail wagged a bit, and that's what he came up with.
needless to say all the regulars took the p*ss (my poor old fish has taken some stick). LOL
