I am not unhappy yet with the simplicity of NeroVision, but I find it unrelable in quality output terms.

I don't need to do anything very much more elaborate that it allows, but I do want complete customizability and PERFECT results. (Very visual person - eye for detail).

The main thing I want in similar software is the ability to import and encode mpegs, avs, mov, wmv, etc without an additional program?

Nerovision does this - which I like, but what else would you recommend for my needs?

I should add I'm not concerned about capyuring camcorder stuff, but I do want to compile DVDx from clips and mpegs etc of all fdifferent type, as I said, WITHOUT extra complicated encoding to mpeg software?

DVD-RB (DVD rebuilder) with the CCE plugin (Cinema craft encoder),
Is the best DVD authoring tool in terms of quality,
It puts all other trancoders/encoders to shame.

Most 1 click tools are compressed domain transcoders. What this means in English is that they simply remove enough information from the video on a DVD to make it small enough to fit on a blank disc. Instead of using that approach, DVD-RB re-encodes the video from scratch. The advantage to this approach is that a good MPEG encoder will do a better job of distributing the bitrate, both between frames and between different pixels in the same frame, in a way that maintains as much quality as possible from the original.

You can download an installer for DVD-RB Free here:
http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=77

If you're going to use either CCE Basic or CCE SP to encode you can find more information in our software section.
CCE Basic: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/c...
CCE SP 2.50 (Recommended for PIII/Athlon/Athlon XP Processors): http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/c...
CCE SP 2.7x (Recommended for P4/Athlon64 Processors): http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/c...

If quality is what your after this is the way to go.

Thankyou for that info.

so far I am content with Decrypter > DVD Shrink to ISO > Imgburn as a way to make a DVD copy. (I usualy only copy the main movie so as not to copress too much).

I'm happy if there is no pixelation or skips. And this method seems fine (so far).

The problem is that I want to make DVDs from various video files that I have downloaded - and I like to make menus. Nerovision's functionality is OK, but the quality of the output is sometime jumpy in places and so on. It seems unrelaible qulity wise.

I like the menu creation and not needing a separate encoder program.

Does DVD Rebuilder do all that?

If not, what is like NeroVision but a bit more professional (without too steep a learnnig curve)?
