Ok I recently got a another v7 playstation and installed the DMS4 EZI lite and had it working properly for about a month. Just today I attempt to start the playstation from stand by and the led turned green but the eject button didn't turn blue. The screen is also bsod. I would appreciate any help.

Yuck. That's why I don't recommend the solderless chips. A connection could've come loose. I'd send it to a pro and get a quality solder chip installed. I'd guess 9 out of 10 people butcher the installation/have issues within a couple months of installation. A modchip is meant to be soldered into the mobo, so as to avoid these issues. Check the link in my sig for info on quality solder chips and reputable modders. I wouldn't advise fiddling with the chip, you could damage something and render your PS2 inoperable. Proceed with caution.

I agree, DMS4 EZI was a bad choice. I just removed the chip and while removeing the bios connecter a fuse broke off. I havn't put the playstation togather yet to see if it will run but I have an assumption that it won't. I am going to give it a try.

That sucks. After reading this I added a section about Solderless chips to my Modchip FAQ. Don't feel stupid, problems like this are commonplace. There's nothing EZI about solderless chips. Oh well maybe you can get a good deal on a premod, finances permitting.

26. Q. I'm in the market for a modchip or premodded console. What are some reputable sites I can order from?
A. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/251223 In addition http://www.mod-chip.com and http://www.norcalmods.com are supposed to be reliable. http://www.Xmodds.com is another quality mod site. If you're interested in a premod or modchip, be sure to order from one of these high quality sites.

Check the Modchip FAQ in my sig for info on what chips to buy.

I am probably going to buy a premodded ps2. Would it be possible to get a professioal to solder my DMS4 EZI? I found another G-19 motherboard and all other components for the playstation are functional. By the way thanks alot for your help Tokijin, you have a great deal of knowledge on this subject.

Thanks. It's best to solder the DMS EZI chip in. If you have good soldering skills, that's a good idea. If not, send it to a pro. Once the chip is actually installed and working properly, it has all the same functionality of the DMS 4. It's just getting it installed properly that's the problem. If you're not a top notch solderer, send it to a pro. There's reputable installers listed in the Modchip FAQ in my sig. Are you positive the chip is still functional? It doesn't really matter that much, you can send it to a modder and they can test it out. If not, you'll have get another chip or a premod. Premodds from reputable modders go for $240+. It's worthwhile for a DMS 4 or Matrix Infinity though. Good Luck.
