Dark, red tint, blurry DVD's?

okay I think this is a problem with a setting or a hardware issue but hopefully someone can help.

i have a tried multiple videos of different types of origination. I go through the process of converting and then burning. here is the problem i get the dark redish tint screen that is quite blurry. now before you blame a type of software listen to this.

i have tried converting with WinAVI, DIVX to DVD, DVD Santa and the one that comes with Nero 6.0. Burned using nero when converted within nero, and used the internal burner with DVD santa. all give the same result. no matter how i convert it or burn it using multiple combinations of the above programs.

maybe i have to many programs and they all interfering with each, maybe the files are copywrite protected or something, i just cant figure it out. I have been able to burn movie successfully before and my computer isn't more than 2 months old.

any ideas?

oh yeah i have watched these on my computer and the qaulity is fine, only after being burned i get the problem. The preview screens that come up when converting and burning even show the dark screen i speak of, but not when i play alone on VLC player.
