I went to the Flogging Molly, The Briggs, The Dead Pets, and The Allergies show last night in Denver. It was sooooo RAD. I'd never been to a Flogging Molly show before and I'm here to tell you if you get a chance GO! Their music is really good on a CD player but Live is a whole nother story. It was sick, sick, sick. But the biggest surprise of the night came from The Dead Pets. I'd never heard of them before and the totally blew me away. Their front man is so energetic that you can't help but scream and bounce. He jumped into the crowd right in front of us (we were stage front three rows back just above the pit) and slapped hands with the girl I took. I got an incredible picture of him to. You should go to their myspace page www.myspace.com/thedeadpets and listen to em.
Anyone else heard of or seen the dead pets. Anyone been to a Flogging show?

I second that.
I've never seen any dead pets but I can vouch for Flogging Molly, they're a personal favorite of mine though I seldom run into anyone who's heard them before.
Do yourself a favor and check them out. Their newest album takes a little warming up to, but the earlier ones are outstanding.

i listened to them and dont get it guys, i really dont like them at all ,i write record reviews for a local mag. and would give them maybe 2 and a half stars over all ,but at 47 it just aint my thing

Ya, I think they are a much better live band than anything. I dig their music don't get me wrong but IMO the only way to listen to Floggin is live.

Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Irish American punk rock band, that formed in Los Angeles and is currently signed under SideOneDummy Records. The band currently consists of:
* Dave King (vocals, acoustic guitar, bodhran, banjo, spoons, backing vocals on "Cruel Mistress" and "Queen Anne's Revenge")
* Bridget Regan (fiddle, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, backing vocals)
* Dennis Casey (electric guitar, backing vocals)
* Matt Hensley (accordion, concertina)
* Nathen Maxwell (bass guitar, backing vocals, lead vocals on "Cruel Mistress" and "Queen Anne's Revenge")
* Bob Schmidt (mandolin, mandola, banjo, bazouki, backing vocals)
* George Schwindt (drums, percussion, bodhran)
They have released three major studio albums, Swagger, Drunken Lullabies, and Within a Mile of Home, as well as an independent live album entitled Alive Behind the Green Door. They have toured with the Warped Tour and Larry Kirwan's American Fléadh Festival. They also contributed to the Rock Against Bush project. Also, as of late they have done extensive touring with the self proclaimed Gypsy punk band, Gogol Bordello, which is also signed under SideOneDummy Records.
In a recent interwiew with Kerrang! magazine, Dave King revealed that the band's name comes from Molly Malone's, an Irish pub in LA. "We used to play there every Monday night and we felt like we were flogging a dead horse, so we called the band Flogging Molly."
Their music is heavily influenced by such bands as The Pogues, and ranges from boisterous punk rock like the pirate-themed "Salty Dog" and "Seven Deadly Sins," or the defiant "What's Left of the Flag" and "Rebels of the Sacred Heart" to more somber songs like "Far Away Boys", "The Son Never Shines (On Closed Doors)", or "Death Valley Queen". The driving forces behind the music tend to be King's gravelly voice and Regan's manic fiddling. Prior to forming Flogging Molly, Dave King was the vocalist for Fastway, a late 80s-early 90s heavy metal band, featuring guitarist Eddie Clarke of Motörhead.
Flogging Molly has also influenced a new generation of musicians and bands, both Irish and non-Irish, punk and non-punk. Notable bands include Gogol Bordello (Russian punk), Rose's Pawn Shop (bluegrass rock), The Scotch Greens (Americana rock) and many others.
The band is planning on releasing a new album in late 2006 along with a live DVD.

To add a little bit of info about Matt Hensley, for those that don't lnow him :
He's also a pro skater, has been since the late 80's if i remember correctly,
and still has his own gear on several big skate brands.

I have to say, I used to laugh at people who liked obscure music like Flogging Molly...untlil I tried listining to it. Flogging Molly is Kick A*S, if i ever get a chance to see them live, Im so going.

Hey RoNin, you live in Colorado? I live in Colorado! I actually have seen Floggin Molly, about a year ago at the Fillmore in Denver, pretty good show. Weird to see another person from Colorado or at least one who's been to Denver.
