Sometimes when I boot up my ps2 it will just stay on a blank black screen and won't let me reset the console until I unplug it. This happens unfrequently but it's still annoying.

I have a v14 PS2 and a self installed Matrix Infinity Green Dot. Other than this minor problem it has been working great - booting every backup.

edit: spelling mistake

I had that problem when I first got my PS2 back from teammodders.com. Except in my scenario, it wouldn't boot anything. I had to send it back. It was a dial that needed adjusted or something. After I got it back, the problem was fixed. You may need to send it back to the modder if it persists. In your case it seems minor. In my case I had no choice, backups wouldn't boot at all. It's not a major issue, but if it gets worse you should sent it back to your modder. It's a simple fix for a pro. Good luck.

Yeah haha... I installed the chip myself so I can't send it back. Anyway I figure it maybe is just a weak solder or something but does anyone know which specific points on the mobo would cause this problem? - Or maybe it's a faulty chip?

No offense, but it was probably soldering issues that caused this in the first place. You can pay $30 out of pocket to get it fixed right, or take the risk of rendering it inoperable. If you aren't 100% sure what you're doing, bite the bullet and send it to a pro. Otherwise, you'll probably end up a statistic. Sorry but I call it like I see it. I would never attempt to install a modchip on my own, so I'm not knocking you, I just think you're treading dangerous ground here. The choice is yours. Choose wisely.

No offense taken... I remember back in the day when I started to mod xboxes. A friend once told me that every time someone says Electrical Engineer, God kills an xbox.

I'm a do-it-yourself type of person. I even ripped an entire trace off the motherboard of my first xbox and had to repair it myself - but I've never killed a console no matter how screwed up a solder is. I do admit though these damn slimeline PS2s are so tiny and fragile it's pretty crazy.

I just need to know if anyone else has had this specific issue and if it's actually a soldering problem or if it's something else.
