Are you a hard working software developer trying to make a living, or someone running an illegal bit torrent server letting others downlaod their software for free and taking taking food out of their mouths. Or possibly you think you lay somehwere in the middle, assuming you can think there's a middleground in this subject.

I think that if Companies would keep the prices LOW then alot of people wouldn't pirate...

What ever happened to the $2.50 Movie? Now $8-$10 in some markets.. CRAZINESS!.... might as well buy the DVD

@lenny42 - well i'm standing right behind you, but at least this time your post is constructive. Piracy is indeed wrong (and not tolerated around here)..

In my opinion, piracy is 100% wrong. If everybody keep thinking that just stealing a little from a huge corporation won't hurt them because they are rich, well that is certainly right, but if everybody in the world think like that then it is no longer little. It would be ok for 1 or 2 people in a store to steal, but if everybody that goes in and steal a little would results in A LOT.

As for the price of the products, the reason that it is high is because of piracy. Legitimate buyers are facing the consequences because people keep on pirating.

- 'fraid i will never agree with that, prices are high due to greed, pure and simple. certainly in the UK everything is about greed, whether it's government or business. there's no such thing as fair pricing in this country

Copying data/music/movies and either giving them away, or selling them is wrong.

I do believe in backing up your media for personal use, and to prevent damage to the original content.

As far as Windows Genuine Advantage goes, that's MS's right to protect their investment.

As far as using Corp editions to avoid the hassle of activation, I think you should do the right thing and just buy a corp license and be done with it. Lots of OEM retailers sell them.
