When you load a downloaded game onto a memory stick it will not play if you have the latest update for PSP, right? So you wouldn't be allowed to go online? Is it possible to have one memory stick with the latest update and one with the backdated version so I could switch between them when I want to go online and play games. Would this work?

Have you heard of the fired up browser it is a web browser that runs on 1.5 psps, that lets you play your "backups" and surf the net without upgrading.

It would work but youd still be downgrading and upgrading basically, theres is a firmware launcher with minimal capabilities it enables AVC video playback and i think it lets you browse web not sure tho, but that is still emulating a downgrade or upgrade so easiest way is Fired UP

wouldn't it be as simple as plugging in memory stick A and going online, and then if I wanted to play a game just switch it with memory stick B?

Nope, its like your pc, your running windows most likely but if i put in a disk with linux on it it wouldnt be linux till you install linux.
