Hello everybody, I am heading over to my mother in laws house this coming weekend and I need to do a little work on her computer. She has Xp and everything she has seems to load on startup. I know I go to msconfig and then startup but I need to know what NOT to turn off on startup . Thanks in advance

Well, we'd have to take a look at what she already has in msconfig. Keep in mind, messenger programs like Yahoo, MSN..need to have their startup options turned off in the programs themselves, or they will keep adding themselves to the msconfig list.

The only thing we have running on our computers at startup are:

Vid driver control panel
Firewall
Sound driver control panel
Theme programs

Things like java, adobe, ms office, messengers, update managers, quicktime...just don't need to be running at startup.
