Im gonna be finally gettin' a computer this summer.(i am on public access as I talk too you now)
I have a professionally modded xbox, and I am wondering what I should look for in hardware, as well as what I will need in the way of software, to make downloading and burning ISO's(games?)possible.
now I know that I should get the highest quality dvd burner I can get but im not sure about which +'s -'s or combos work best with xbox.
also as I understand it I will need to download software to allow me to download the ISO's plus additional software to allow me to burn the downloaded iso to a dvd.
but perhaps I could just transfer the game to my xbox through my crossover cable using an ftp program and never have to burn it at all?
what do I want and where do I get It?any help Is much appreciated.
I will check this thread at the earliest possible time I can, but alas as I have mentioned, I am on pub access and have no PC of my own(yet)
it's an Xbox question, and this is the right section.
1. Well first off replace the stock HDD with a larger one, 160GB or above should work. This will help in playing games strait from the HDD and not from DVD, the stock drive is only 8MB's and sucks.
2. get a torrent program like U-Torrent, Azureus, bitcommet or other
this can be used for downloading, but do your research because if you think you are just going to download a file that can just be burned to DVD then you have some reading to do
3. you can use your crossover cable to hook the pc to your Xbox and FTP games to the Xbox HDD
4. Get a good FTP program like FlashFXP or other if you do not have one
5. Get an ISO Builder/extractor program like Qwix or Craxtion4
6. get Xlink Kai a free program you can use to do online gameing with any game that has the syetm link option
7. once you use the ISO builder program you can burn the game to DVD with something like DVD Decrypter, Nero, Alcohol 120%
8. get an auto installer disc and use it to install many great programs, Apps, Emulator & Roms
9. With that you should get DVD2Xbox that will copy a game disc strait from the DVD Drive on the Xbox to your HDD
10. -R 8X DVD's will be your safest choice

now I have actually got a 200gb drive up in there plus the "evoX" dash with dvd2xbox, dvd region X(for playing movies w/out the remote kit)and a few other odds n ends.
now as far as "dont think your gonna download a file and be able to burn it straight to a dvd" A: thnx fo the heads up,B: but can I download a file and then just FTP it over to my BOX w/out ever making into an IMAGE?

i thought that kind of gave it away as far as what he was looking for..LOL
yes, you can download stuff then FTP them to the HDD no problem, but burning a back up copy is always a good idea just in case your HDD goes currupt or anything happens.
you can search torrent sites online, i know a few that have program update downloads that have a load of programs and dashboards and stuff all in one simple DL
