Hi all...

I hope someone in here can help me or at least steer me in the right direction regarding the Toxic bios setup screen...here's what's up..I hold square button when booting, brings me to setup screen, I make my changes (mainly turn TOXIC logo off among a few others) then screen says to hit START to save settings...dum -de-dum ok now it's done..tells me to reset (tap green button correct?) now when it all comes up again-NOTHING has been saved! Just like I never tried to alter anything..I just got this yesterday, did figure out how to get to TOXIC config screen, but I don't know how to make my changes stay put after I have changed them.. Is it saving to the memory card then I have to do some funky load from the card or am I just doing something totally idiotic when I'm resetting the unit? Unit has latest bios, etc. and is a V14.

I notice my PSX fix option is boned until next bios update which kinda sux...Oh well..minor for now. Anyone know how to ACTUALLY SAVE your changes correctly??

Appreciated it.

it writes the configuration to the internal flash when it saves, if your settings are not saving then the flash has corruption to it.

boot into the DMS backup flash (press reset from standby, then press it again 3x with 1 second pauses between resets) and re-flash Toxic BIOS but when the screen says to press X to continue, press R1 R2 L1 L2 all at the same time instead.

it flushes the entire programmable flash out leaving no data behind when pressing the shoulder buttons. pressing X simply overwrites ONLY the portion of the flash that the BIOS is written to.

Thank you very much for hanging with me here..please understand I just got this unit yesterday and am still a might leery of messing with it. I had asked the retailer of whom I purchased it basically the same questions I've asked here and they told me to goto the Toxic BIOS' website. For example, you know what buttons to push when booting and their purpose-they couldn't supply me with that information. Please just a few more minutes of your time.. Now you say "boot into the DMS backup flash (press reset from standby, then press it again 3x with 1 second pauses between resets)..I tried that or I thought I did..the unit had the red light on, I tapped it, but I couldn't avoid having the unit turn on (green light)..is this normal or am I doing it wrong? I feel like an idiot cuz our old PS2 (Messiah chip) was plug in and go..no BIOS to mess with and now I'm lost cause I cannot get to the DMS flash area. Should I have burned a flash disc from Toxic's website and have it in the drive when flashing? Or when (if) I can get to the Flash area will it go automatically if I push the correct buttons? I'm really very sorry..I didn't know when I bought this unit, I was going to have to mess with this. if I get there, pressing the shoulder buttons you say "flushes the entire programmable flash out leaving no data behind" ..again, if I get there will I need to do something else (a Re-flash) or will it all be done right then and there? That's it..I'm done asking..hope you haven'tlost interest or got peeved you even answered me in the 1st place. Thanks for your time and expertise. I am really hoping I won't have to send this back because I cannot flash the bios properly.

geeze that was a bit hard to follow, ever heard of paragraphs????

break it up a little.............anywho, with the console in standby (red lite) press the reset button once (green lite comes on) then wait 1 sec and press it again (green lite still on) do this three times and the chip will boot the DMS flash stored in it's read only memory bank (this can't be wrote over so it's always there and always works)

with the backup flash now booted, the console will boot ONLY a home brew disk (not a backup), so use it to boot the flash disk. for a DMS4 Lite use Toxic BIOS 1.4, for the DMS4 Pro use Toxic OS 0.41

when the flash disk boots it will give on screen instructions, just remember to push the shoulder buttons rather then X, after the flashing is complete, remove the flash disk and then reboot and check that the settings save like they should.
