My Radio Shack here doesn't have the recommended size of wire. The wire I do have is large and I think it'd be too hard to solder to the small spots. I have had no problem modding cubes and xboxes, but the ps2 is new to me ;)

Could I use some old IDE cable for the mod connections?

you can use the IDE cable, but 99.99% of the radio shack 'you got questions, we're all dumbasses' folks just don't know what the heck they have. it's an item that most every person who walks into the store and asks for they'll say 'we don't have it' but they do, they just don't have brains enough to look in the right place, it's not in the wire section, it's in the component section, and comes in 1 or 4 packs of various colors.

double check yourself and then make sure you don't let the sales person who said 'we don't have that' check you out, they work on commision........

Amazingly, he actually even went out to the back to look since it claimed he had 2 of each color in stock. I scoured the store quite a bit, too.

But I agree.. if it's not a cell phone, they're pretty clueless.
