How to make an mpeg2 (DVD format) with the highest bitrate to fill a DVD

Hi

Is there a quick and easy way with Nero Vision (or some other part of the Nero 7 software suite) to calculate what
bitrate you should export AVI input to MPEG2 format (i.e. DVD) in
order get the best quality for the MPEG2 given the target size of the DVD (e.g. DVD5 4.37GB 4480MB) - less a certain small size for
the dvd menu, or a bit more if you are planning on using a menu with animated buttons.

Currently I see that I can use custom settings for quality but it seems a bit of "try it and see" rather than having a bitrate calculator to work out what custom setting to use for your mpeg2 export.

I have found the VideoHelp Bitrate Calculator

Hoping for some input on this matter.

Oh yes, I forgot to say that the AVI input is only 1 hour 24 minutes long and so it will of course fit onto a DVD in mpeg2 standard format (about 5600kbps) but it will not fit in high quality format (8000kbps) so I know that I should use something between those ranges.

However I wish to have a quick way via Nero to work out what bitrate to use to almost fill the DVD. Isn't there a way to use an automatic maximum quality possible/ fill the dvd - or suchlike?

I suppose I could use the high quality setting, use Nero Vision to burn the dvd (with menus) to hard disk and then use another piece of s/w called DVD Shrink to force it back to a 4.38gb DVD size? however that seems a long and time consuming way to do it.
