Use better media. (I will post a list below).
Use +r media and change the booktype to dvd-rom.
Update your firmware for your DVD-Burner.

These little things will increase your compatibilty with
stand alone dvd players.

Cheers!

The following list is in preference order. The best discs are near the top of the list. The discs at
the bottom of the list are suitable only for a landfill.

Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
PVC = Pioneer = (-R)(-RW)
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

Try buying programs like AnyDVD and Clondvd2 from slysoft...probably the best programs out there.....

I burn using this programs and my old school dvd player reads them...as Jizmak states media is also an important key to the burning process

When using dvd+r media you can change the Booktype to
dvd-rom when burning.

This feature will greatly increase compatibility,
As the disk will not be recognized as +r but as dvd-rom.(After burning)

What matters also is the MANUFACTURER, TDK outsources to many
vendors theres a good chance the media WILL NOT be high quality.

You can run dvd identifier or even dvd decrypter can tell you the
manufacturer ID on the discs your using.
Look up the code in the link I posted before and see where
on the scale your media is.
