using dvd decrypter the supported write speed say from 2.4x to 16x speeds. I used to use office depot dvd+r 16x discs which worked very well. But i recently purchased khypermedia dvd+r 8x discs which were on sale for 13.99 for a 50 pack. my first question is are these khypermedia discs any good and second do i change the settings speed on dvd decrypter from max i believe it was to 8x? i heard somewhere that you need to set the speed to the speed on the blank disc.

I don't know if these are any good or not. I think if you have any kind of skipping or freezing during playback then it is more than likely the media. Try it though.
The slower you burn the better. I burn at 4X regardless of what the media label says.

Sometimes your burner or its firmware wont let you go any lower than 6x on some media. I burn at 6x most of the time. Its kind of a compromise between 4x and 8x. If you are concerned, just scan the burnt DVD with Nero cd-dvd drive speed, and do the disc quality check if your burner supports it. This will give you an idea as to how well your 6x burns are doing. Anything in the 90s is good.
For Nero, the blank media should be in the drive before you start your project, and Nero will list the supported burn speeds for that media.
If you dont have Nero, dvdinfo pro is a good free program that does scans http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvdinf... along with Kprobe2. http://www.kprobe2.com Both are good programs.
