I'm trying to backup a couple of DVD's that were like 3 hour+ movies. Mainly some of the RED SOX 2004 ALCS Game 4 and 5 movies that were very long.

I used DVD Decrypter to decrypt them first, and then Shrink, which brings them down to 60.1% compression leaving them a little bit too big to fit on a normal disk (4694mb). There's no other menu's or unneccessary audio video that I can delete to bring it down to 4464mb that I need.

Is there a way to shrink this differently so I can use a normal DVD 4.7 GB disk? Or do I have to use a DL dvd? I've tried using a DL DVD to do this and already failed on two attempts (with these being $5 each disk)

Please Help! (thanks in advance)

After you shrink the movie once, the resulting folder, run it through DVD Shrink again, shrink it one more time, and it will make it fit on a single layer disc.

change your setting from automatic to custom and move the slider to achive the required compression after you hit backup enable both options under quality before you hit OK this will take longer but it will help to improve quality loss from the extra compression

Thanks cyprusrom. Shrinking the file once, and then again worked! (the picture quality isnt the greatest, but that's ok).

Philraz, I wasnt able to change shrink the ratio any smaller by changing to custom.

@chazz2z
You're welcome!
If you were to backup movie only, with no menus, you can use the Re-Author function and the end/start option. This way you can cut sometimes about 200-300 Mb from the end that are just credits and junk.
If you shrink twice, I would recommend using all the quality settings.
Glad you got it work!

Yeah, unfortunately even after cutting out some of the menus the first shrink is still not enough to get it to one disk.

What do you mean by "using all the quality settings"? How do I do that?

Well, by quality settings I mean deep analysis anad AEC:

As for cutting, editing, I don't mean just the menus, but also from the movie itself.It might not be the case with this movie, but some have like 2-300 MB of just credits at the end.:
