Not VALID PS2 Game

Hello, i`ve just installed Magic Key II tools. Everything looked fine. Either C tool installation was pretty easy.

But when I load SwapMagic 3.6(plus MK2) and I change DVD/CD it always says Not valid PS2 format. Either when I insert original PS2 DVD it says not valid but when I press X the game run. But not for backups.

I`ve tried 1 backup so far NHL 2006 huh now no so easy for beginning i know (lot of ppl have trouble with this ) i`ve tried either 1:1 backup and rebuilded backup with TDK+R burning at lowest speed (4x). It doesn`t work.

Anyway does anyone know why there Not valid ... status either for original DVDs ?

when you swap your disk and push X does your ps2 start from boot ie the ps2 logo appears before invalid disk ?

@philraz: He said he booted SwapMagic, which means the PS2 logo has already appeared. It never appears after that.

@aragornol: I had the same problem as you did, and it ended up being a faulty PSTwo. Is your PSTwo brand new? If so, return it and get a new one to see if that fixes the problem. If that's not the case, then it is more than likely the media you are using. While I highly recommend DVD+Rs because you can booktype them to DVD-ROM, I have seen in many places that one should avoid TDK media. While I've had great success with DVD-Rs from TDK, I would say that high grade media, like Taiyo Yuden, is far better. I burn games at 8x speed and create media with 100% quality (no PI errors). If you are using anything substandard (anything that isn't TY, Verbatim, or Maxell), you're asking for problems.

it will return to boot when you push X at the swap magic screen if tool C isnt inserted correctly

but I will agree that bad media and hardware faults can cause the same faliure

@philraz: Oh sorry, my apologies, I've never seen it do that before. For me, it's either it boots the Swap Magic, but the other media fails (which was what my bad 70xxx PSTwo did all the time with most media that was not an original) and comes up with that invalid PS2 disc message, or it will just boot straight to the game, which then either runs perfectly (in the case of my very old PS2 or my just replaced 75xxx PSTwo) or it spins the disc like mad, freezes all FMVs, and generally just plays like garbage (faulty 70xxx). I'm HOPING that now that I have a nicely working system and decent media (I'm never getting anything but TY's or Verbs from now on, let me tell ya!), I won't have any problems. I will say, though, that if you get a very good PS2 drive, it will read just about anything until the media degrades (which varies greatly depending on what you use). I have some TDK -R's that work just as well in this new system as my old one, although I do expect them to degrade much sooner than my TY's.
