Hi, my mate bought fifa street 2 umd and he had 2.0, fifa street obviously requires 2.5/2.6 to play so he went to the update, now i know about bricking psp's but he stupidly pulled the ac adapter out while updating and now its bricked, it wont even turn on so there's absolutely NOTHING he can do with it? he bought it abroad btw.

what do you mean thanks for nothing, there's nothing paul or any of us can do for a bricked psp.. it is rendered useless lol. i mean your friends isnt the smartest for.
1. upgrading
2. pulling out while upgrading...
its really hard to brick your psp unless you are messing around with the flash, all he had to do was sit and let it finish.

to answer your question, there so much more you can do with a 1.5 then you can with a 2.6 including full emu and homebrew capabilities.

jaskaran, without calling you names or flaming you I will answer your questions.
1. You cant do anything with the psp since the power was cut while upgrading. Its completely useless. Sell it on ebay for parts. You'll get more than 20 bucks for it.
2. You should NEVER upgrade the firmware if you have 2.0 or less. The reason for this is you want to be able to downgrade your firmware to 1.5 so you can run homebrew (emulators, applications, media players, homemade games etc.) and also run iso's (backed up psp games and movies). You can't downgrade your firmware to 1.5 once you have upgraded it to anything higher than 2.0. This includes 2.01 etc. The absolute worst thing you can do to your psp is upgrade the firmware past 2.0
Hope this helps

Try calling Sony and telling them what happend, I mean your friend is a moron but that's not his fualt.
Steps to bricking a PSP:
1. Get a brick
2. Hit the psp with it untill it won't run any longer
Congratulations, your psp is now bricked.

wtf why are you trying to make me look like the bad guy??!
i didn't call him a name or flame him.. and i did answer his questions.. wtf?
you didnt say anything i didnt say, and fyi he can play movies on any firmware, and actually 2.0+ is better for movies cause those support avc format which takes less space on your card.

well.. when i was on the hunt for 1.5's, target had a crop of them, but i kept getting stuck / dead pixels and i returned, literally, 6 psps, no questions asked.
they dont check them so its a decent place to do it.
try and get a female custo service person tho, they are **usually** less technologically adept.

Call up Sony and tell them while you were updating you had a power surge and the power was cut, and that it was the electric company's fault not yours so they will replace it for phr33.

the swap thing is a great idea. I never had thought of that before. Target is def. the best place to return items. They never check, even if its $500. I had brought and returned many items from Target and not once did they check. Maybe when my psp gets damage I should try doing it.

Sony this upgrade thing is there fault when we upgrade there shouldnt be no risk to the system even tho with the diconnection of charger they should not release something if that kind of thing happens. Illegal and immoral boy you make me laugh these company make a fortune out of us so i would go for the swapping thing lol

You're right :( ... I'm gonna go jump off a cliff now.
I'll admit I got some iso's but I own shit loads of Sony products: games, home theater system, two psp's, ps2, ps1, etc. And I actually buy games too. So I'm not a complete leech.
