I noticed that my lite on burner(LiteOn-1693s) can successfully read the sectors of a Jap original GC disc. Only the banner file and hdr file are seen when opening up disc.

"THIS MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE"
"CLOSE OUT ALL PROGRAMS AND DISCONNECT FROM INTERNET"

1) Put import GC disc in Drive
2) Let it be for a bit(so it can read the sectors)
3) Load up nero and select copy DVD
4) Pick image name and set burn speed to 2x or lower
5) Click next so it will begin coping to HDD
6) Let it be for a bit since this took 45 minutes for me.
7) Check it after a while to see if it is done
8) If you got an error just retry with another game
9) Replace original disc with DVD+-R and burn away
10)Enjoy! :)

ImgBurn doesn't work for me so I wouldn't reccomend it.

I tried this on Biohazard, Biohazard 0, and Eternal Darkness and worked good.

I haven't tested this with other burners so i don't know if it will work with any others so dont just go out and buy a burner just cause i said this.

Edit: my friends Phillips burner works OK with this method.
Edit: got a DRE with Biohazard so i re-adjusted my pot and now plays fine.

ah...I'm board....were's that shotgun?

So basically burn it like any ol' (unprotected) DVD, only to Mini-DVD?

this method only seems to work on jap games. you have to create an image of it otherwise it wont boot if you do a direct copy.

no it has an encryption so you can't just do a copy. Nero overieds this and makes it possible to copy it.

the jap games encryption isnt up to par with the americans encryption.
all USA/C/PAL games can't be read at all by this method.

ONLY NTSC J are compatible. if you dumped your gc firmware you can overried your drives firmware with the GC's and read discs. only do that on a spare drive since i fried two of them. i used an old dvd drive i had gotten at a sale for 10 bucks and it can read usa games after i hacked the firmware.

if you want to know how to hack your pc's dvd firmware so it is capable of reading gc games pm me.
