After having an xbox modded for years now, i want to get into Gamecube (wife wants one as well). What is the best site for Pre-Mods. I had a friend mod my xbox, and he suggested i just get a pre-modded gamecube. Honestly, not really sure if that means ordering a gamecube from a site that sells chips, and they install and set it up for you. Is that correct? They install and set up the chip for you, so basically when it arrives int he mail, its good to go?I thought about doing the soft mod, but just would rather have a hard mod, seems to work best. All i care to do with it is play my backup games on it. Nothing else. its gonna be in a room with a modded xbox (fully tweaked), a PC, a media server, and a 32" Wega with 5.1 sound. Any help with sites/deals would be GREAT

Yeah, a pre-mod is a console that has a chip installed into a new console. However, it's not going to be "good to go" when you get it since they won't flash the chip with a BIOS that can play back-ups. It's their way of covering their ass in the off chance legal action is brought against them. You'll just have to flash the chip with a BIOS capable of playing back-ups.

If all you're going to do is play back-ups, just get a pre-mod GC with either a Qoob Pro or ViperGC Extreme. The Qoob Pro is going to be about $10 cheaper since it doesn't support USB ripping like the ViperGC Extreme does.

I've ordered from them before, so I'd say they're pretty reliable. Apparently, some people have had issues with their customer service though.

Woudl this be a better deal.
http://www.modchipman.com/qoob-sx-premodded-gamecube-special-p-60...

It only has the QOOB SX, but isnt that the same just without the USB support or am I missing something. It also comes with a Full DVD Case. How hard is it to flash these Gamecube chips? Any tutorials around?

The Qoob SX is cheaper than the Qoob Pro and doesn't have USB support or the 16 mbit of onboard flash memory for extra applications. As I recall, the Qoob SX can only be flashed via DVD.

As long as you don't mind flashing with DVD-Rs, that would indeed be a better deal. For whatever reason, I kept thinking they were in the UK, but I just checked and saw that they're located in the US.

It isn't hard to flash them. Whenever you download the BIOS for a Qoob chip (or one of those Ultimate Qoob Tool packs floating around torrent sites) it should come with a flashing app for the Qoob SX that can be burned onto a data DVD and run on the GC.

Excellent. Is there anything I would be missing tha I cant think about now, as why it would be bad down the road not having USB support? I have no problem dealing with burning Data DVDs to flash the Bios, as I am starting at a stack of 240 blank DVDs right infront of me :)

Qoob Pro only uses the USB to flash BIOS and apps to the chip's onboard memory, so you probably won't care about it later on.
