I'm usung Fuji discs at the moment. But my question is, can my harddrive needing to be defragged cause any type of problem. I've used a lot of different discs before, and recently bought some Taiyo Yudens. But I'm trying to eliminate any problems before I start.

Yes it can cause some problems. I defrag after every 2 movies I do.
