you can use a thumb drive if you still cant find a solution to using hdd to store your saves. with a recent version of action replay, you can transfer the saves into your thumb drive.

yes, a USB flash drive. You have to format it to FAT (not FAT32) so that the ps2 can recognize it.

You can download action replay off the net and boot it, provided your console is chipped.

yes, it means you have to buy an original copy off the net, like codejunkies.com . other sources like playasia.com may offer it cheaper, but make sure it is new versions like AR Max, or AR Max Evo Ed. those AR V2 and below are too old.

the thumbdrive issue is still the same, UNLESS you buy the max drive together with the action replay too, then you wont need any special instructions.

i use a backup AR with my own thumbdrive, and i can say its really great. i can transfer saves both ways anytime and i can also store other files on it, since the FAT format has been around for so long

I could do that with my SOny 40GB HDD.(I just went to the Memory Card, chose the save, hit copy, chose the HD,then deleted the old data on the card.)Then if I needed the save I could just go into the HD menu, choose the save, and copy it back to the card.
