Most of the time, my wmv or mpeg movie files
are not pristine clear (generally blurry, the display
is not that detailed)..unless I reduce the video size
to 50% (but them the video display is of course too small on the screen).
Then recently, I was opening a very small mpeg movie file called crazyfrogdj.mpg
of just 5MB with an amazing clear display at any video size I choose.
My questions:
(1)What makes a movie file clear at whatever video size?
I would think that the more the video file is compressed,
the displays looses it's quality...but a video file of 5mb
that I've tried proved me that it has nothing to do with it being
compressed or not.
(2)Using a cheap video cam of digicam will end up with a low quality
video file. But are there some software that can still bring a low quality
video file to a better one? If yes, what software would you recommend for that?
(3)What digital video camera (at a reasonable price) would you recommend for
good quality videos files?
(4)Is there a video file format that tends to make a video file better displayed
(is mpeg better than wmv or vice-versa?)

Thanks for your time

What Makes for a Good Quality File is a Good Quality Source...You can"t make something good from something Bad (Crap In=Crap Out)...

Also Many Video Files you will Find on the Net are Very Low resolution Files and encoded with a Low bitrate which Makes them Look bad especially when they are resized to Full screen....But even at a Low resolution and bitrate you can get OK Quality if it comes from a High Quality source Like DVD......

There really isn"t much you can do to make Low quality Video files Look Better ,You can add Filters to sharpen the Image and adjust the Color and Remove some Noise but this also requires you to re-compress the Video file to add the Filters which usually Lowers the quality more than the Filters Improve the Quality.....

That File that is of Better qualiuty you have was probably made from a High quality High Resolution Source which is why it looks good....

If your Footage is Shot on a Low Quality Camcorder then that is Probably why they don"t look the best and most DV Camcorders Under $1000 will probably not give you that Much better quality...I have a Cheap JVC MiniDV Camcorder that does Take OK video but only in High Light conditions and when the Camera isn"t moveing a Lot but in Low Light it Totally Sucks.....

There are also better Formats than others But I suppose you have to go with the Format that your Target is (EG:DVD=Mpeg-2/VCD=Mpeg-1 ect)..
And there are also Better encoders than others especially when encodeing to Mpeg formats and useing a Better encoder will give you better quality than a Crappy encoder and some encoders Have Built in Filters that you can adjust to get a Better Image quality Like with "Tmpgenc" which is Probably the Best Mpeg-1 encoder....

Good luck
