How does one make reliable and good DVDs with this software?
I just spent a full day testing and the result was a nightmare. I ran the DV-DVD Wizard, burn the DVD, but the audio on the DVD is choppy. And, it took almost 5 hours to make a 21 minute DVD. The rendering and processing time is agony.

All I want to do is the following:
1. connect my Panasonic PV-GS65 Mini-DV camcorder via Firewire to my PC (no problem)
2. open up ULVS9 (or jeeze, ANY app that will do the job right!)
3. copy up to an hour of clips to the hard drive
4. create a production to burn to DVD
5. rip project to a DVD-R
6. Watch on a standalone(or mail to Mom!)

The only thing that I have that isn't super current is that my CPU is P4 1.9Ghz. A faster one would help, I know.
All else should be up-to-date:
1.5GB RAM, 1.1TB of drive space, latest and greatest ULVS9, latest firmware on my Sony DRX-810UL, great media. I also resent paying $100 for this Ulead and having it be so slow and the results so crappy.
(but, I have had worse pain in the past with Pinnacle and Adobe).
Is ALL of this video authoring software crap? Does ANYONE know a standard way to make all this work?

Why the heck is this so excruciating? Is there any good guide how to convert Mini-DV tapes to DVD? I want to keep highest quality possible in doing this, even if it sucks disk space and time...BUT, the output needs to be watchable with clear sound. It's all about quality results.

Also, how do I know if I have the codecs I need? I don't see any app asking me for any more codecs.

Thanks,

Robert

Dear Robert,

I am about to attempt to use Ulead VS9 to do exactly the same thing and I have a much less powerful system than you, only 2 gig RAM and an old AMD 2.7 gigahertz CPU, with 180 gig free on a second hard drive. I will let you know how it goes, but the fact you have had no replies makes me quite nervous! Did you get it to work to your satisfaction?

Regards,

Ted.

Switched to VS9 as found Adobe Premier needed time to learn I did not have.
